Climate change is real, and with Falmouth’s location along more than 70 miles of coast, the effects of sea level rise and coastal erosion will have a direct impact on our town. We must prepare for the changes this may bring to our shores as well as do our best to make decisions that will mitigate this crisis rather than further contribute to it. Creating a successful plan requires advance research, listening to the scientists, and tapping into local expertise. We are fortunate to have world class science organizations and engineering professionals in Woods Hole as well as greater Falmouth. This advantage allows Falmouth the opportunity for partnerships and collaboration with scientists who have the relevant training and skills as well as first hand knowledge of our community’s specific circumstances.
